The world's first batch of bio based refrigerated containers delivered to China, breakthrough in green logistics technology

On August 28, 2025, Shanghai Huanyu Qingdao Container Factory held the world's first delivery ceremony for bio based composite refrigerated containers, and 30 refrigerated containers using Kaisai bio based polyamide continuous fiber composite materials were officially put into use. This delivery was jointly completed by China Merchants Group's Sinotrans Group, Shanghai Huanyu Logistics, and Kaisai Biotechnology, filling the application gap of bio based materials in the refrigerated container field in China.

The key components of the refrigerator are made of independently developed bio based polyamide composite materials, which have a density of only 1/4 of steel and 2/3 of aluminum, but have the same mechanical properties, achieving a lightweight revolution of "replacing steel with plastic". Through spray free technology and low-carbon design throughout the entire lifecycle, the carbon emissions of the box are significantly reduced compared to traditional metal materials, and it has stronger corrosion resistance in high humidity and low temperature environments. China Merchants Group stated that this breakthrough provides a replicable "Chinese solution" for the low-carbon transformation of the global container industry, and is expected to achieve large-scale production in the next three years.
